Frequently Asked Questions
Product & Craftsmanship
What materials are used in Keepers Knitwear products?
All garments are handcrafted in Belgium using sustainable materials such as deadstock merino wool, linen, and organic cotton. These materials are chosen to ensure softness, durability, and eco-friendliness.
What is deadstock yarn?
Deadstock yarn refers to surplus yarn that was originally produced for fashion houses or manufacturers but never used. Instead of being discarded, this high-quality yarn is given a second life in our creations. By using deadstock yarn, we reduce textile waste and create unique, limited-edition pieces in a more sustainable and responsible way.
How are the garments made?
Each piece is meticulously crafted on a vintage manual knitting machine, adhering to the highest ethical and aesthetic standards. This process ensures that every item is unique and made to last. Vintage domestic knitting machines are operated manually, without electricity, guaranteeing an intrinsically sustainable manufacturing process with a low impact on our environment.
Are the products suitable for sensitive baby skin?
Yes, the materials used are gentle and safe for delicate baby skin. The use of organic and sustainable fabrics ensures comfort and reduces the risk of irritation.

Shipping & Delivery
How long does it take to produce my order?
In general, the production lead time of all items offered on the webshop is about 2-3 weeks. Machine knitting is a machine-assisted manual process which takes time. Some items may be in stock and ready-to-ship, in which case the order can be dispatched within 2 business days.
Do you offer ready-to-ship items?
Yes, there is a selection of one-of-a-kind handmade knitwear items that are ready to ship. These items are crafted with the same care and quality as made-to-order pieces.
What are the shipping options and delivery times?
Shipping details, including options and estimated delivery times, are provided during the checkout process. As all items are handmade in Belgium, delivery times may vary based on the product and destination.
Care & Maintenance
How should I care for my knitwear?
To maintain the quality of your knitwear, it is generally recommended to hand wash items gently and lay them flat to dry. Avoid hanging knitted garments to prevent stretching. Store them folded in a cool, dry place.
Most Keepers Knitwear garments are crafted from deadstock merino wool or organic cotton. Here’s a recap of the specific care instructions for each material:
Merino Wool:
Due to its auto-cleansing properties, merino wool does not need to be washed frequently. Before washing, try to remove local stains with a damp cloth.
To remove odors, hang your knit outside for a few hours or days, or hang it in your bathroom when you take a shower (steam helps to remove odors)
If you still wish to wash your knit, hand wash or machine wash it in gentle cycle (!) at max. 30C.
Dry flat
Do not tumble dry
Ironing with steam is permitted. Try not to touch the fabric with the iron, but gently press the steam at about 1cm distance to the fabric.
Organic Cotton:
Wash at max. 30C.
Dry flat
Do not tumble dry
Ironing is permitted, preferably with steam.
Some Keepers Knitwear items contain cashmere, linen, or other natural fibers. Please consult the care instructions on the product pages.
What is merino wool?
Merino wool is a naturally soft, breathable, and odor-resistant fiber. Its insulating characteristics regulate body temperature. Merino wool has auto-cleansing properties and therefore does not need to be washed frequently. Ideally, it is recommended to hand wash your merino wool item in cold water with a mild wool detergent. Avoid wringing or twisting—gently press out excess water with a towel. Alternatively, you can machine wash your knit at max. 30C in gentle cycle. After washing, lay the garment flat to dry, reshaping it as needed. Never hang it, as this can stretch the fibers. With proper care, your knitwear will stay beautiful for years.
Returns & Exchanges
What is your return policy?
As each item is handmade to order, returns are generally not accepted unless the product is defective or an error has occurred. For ready-to-ship items, please refer to the specific return policy provided at the time of purchase.
Can I exchange an item for a different size or color?
Exchanges may be possible for ready-to-ship items, subject to availability. For made-to-order items, exchanges are typically not feasible due to the personalized nature of the products.
